CALIBRE

CALIBRE’s website is powered by Shopify and uses its page builder (with some customisation) to build templated homepages, landing pages and fashion look-book pages. It does make the design of these pages restrictive unless development work is made in this area by the business but like any designer, you adapt to get the best possible design outcome despite the limitations you can face.

eDM Design

CALIBRE

EDMs at CALIBRE were built and delivered to customers using DotDigital’s marketing system. However, the template was a legacy of a previous marketing team and was quite archaic in its code so it required making many code edits per eDM just to look like the concept designed. It rendered DotDigital’s easy to use drag and drop eDM builder incompatible with the template.

The amount of eDMs that we do at Total Tools in my time began at once a month to now doing roughly six a week. National campaigns run twice a week while specially designed ranges targeted specific audiences. A large series of loyalty journeys have been designed by myself to drive constant customer engagement as well. The eDMs were built and delivered to customers using Adobe Campaign drag and drop system.

EDMs at the Just Group are powered by SalesForce and requires the designer to design, code, test and schedule the email. The amount of eDMs built on a weekly basis differs dramatically. Different markets gives me the ability to send eDMs to UK, Ireland, Hong Kong, Malaysia, Singapore, NZ as well as Australia and gives me exposure to the nuances of advertising in varying markets around the world.

Website Home Page Design

Smiggle

The content management system at the Just Group requires you to build a full homepage for every new campaign (and varying states during the campaign) separately. It allows you to have different elements and layouts for different campaigns so the website always feels fresh. During a campaign I design a base homepage which is overridden when a new offer is introduced. The offer can have a launch state and close down state which can have a countdown added. Using IBM WebSphere it’s possible to schedule the introduction of updates to the homepage.

DIGITAL BRAND STYLE GUIDE

With the amount of communications across international markets, there was a need to make sure the brand was represented consistently across all markets no matter which team members were on a project. The implementation of the style guide streamlined practices across the team.

Campaign Cross Platform Rollout

Each campaign requires a new set of web banners each week of the sale, social posts for every day, 3 special types of product overlays for bonus items, two EDMs a week & an app tile. There would regularly be upwards of 100+ different elements to create for each campaign.

Website Design RePlatform

Work included consultation on new website design, plus implementation of new artwork templates and the rollout of hundreds of icons from key product feature icons to brand logos. After the initial release of the new site, it would evolve with new features like product overlays to highlight bonuses, making the price points larger and more visible, and update to the look of the homepage banner to mirror what the competitors were doing.

App Design

My long term goal to improve the app was to have a major UI overhaul, to simplify the menu and bring the profile button to a central location where "invoices" currently sits, as this is the most important link and so simplify the navigation UI on the app but due to no budget for the app, this type of update is a while away. With very little UI knowledge I was able to design tiles taking inspiration from other apps to make a contemporary look and feel, even though the framework of the app is a little basic and not as intuitive as it could be.
